SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Australian shares slipped in early trading Wednesday with resource firms mostly weaker. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 shed 0.1% to 4,137.00 as the market reopened after a two-day holiday break. Iron-ore producer Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. lost 1.1%, gold miner Newcrest Mining Ltd. fell 2.1%, while BHP Billiton Ltd. [s bhp] dropped 0.9% and Rio Tinto Ltd. shed 0.7%.
